Mrs. Christian's Class Intern! :)
Hi! I am Kailyn and I intern in Mrs. Christians 2nd Grade class. Every Friday we start with P.E and Spanish.. MAN can those little legs move! Last week I helped the kids play S.P.U.D, that has been my favorite so far. In Mrs. Christians class every morning they have morning meeting, and Mrs. Christian will do a wuzzle. They are so much fun! Some I couldn't even figure out, but the 2nd Graders got it! I love working in this class because everyone is always so happy to see me (especially they girls!) I have played Math Bingo, taught a word study lesson and helped the kids with their morning work. The first day I went in was a little awkward because the kids were used to seeing Max. They got used to me pretty quickly though. Working in Mrs. Christians class has been a blast and I am so happy that I get to go every Friday until the end of the year!! :)
Elementary Tech Interns
The Elementary Tech Interns have been busy lately, with Mr. Kirk gone. We have been preforming repairs on teacher computers, and helping students and teachers with computer problems. One recent problem was a high school laptop with outdated anti-virus. Anyone can catch a virus, so please install anti-virus on your computer. Avast Free is a great free anti-virus (http://www.avast.com/index). Our most challenging job was a computer that wouldn't print. As it turned out, the Printer Spooler Subsystem App was being forced to close at random intervals. This was caused by Windows Data Execution Prevention (DEP), and we couldn't change the DEP settings. We overcame this by re-installing Windows XP Professional. Then, the computer didn't have drivers for its internal network card, so we installed Windows 7 Business Edition. Now the problem is resolved.
We look forward to fixing more computers around the school!

PE Intern teaches the class
In the video above I am teaching one of my kindergarten classes. Always before P.E. games, we do mini exercises , and stretch. I am doing the exercises windmill arms, which builds their arm/bicep strength, and I'm doing a plank, which strengthens all arm muscles. This is what I am doing in the video. As a elementary P.E. intern I have learned many things to teaching. One of the things I learned was encouraging kids to make them work 110%. What I mean by this, if you encourage a kid saying "Nice job!" the kid will try harder and harder to hear more feedback of how good he/she is doing. I have noticed this a lot in my classes, they try so hard when they hear encouragement from others, and getting their second of fame. So this strategy I do a ton as a P.E. intern. I have loved being a P.E. intern for the kindergarten and second grade classes every Friday. Also the kids always enjoy P.E. class. They come in with a big smile, and leave with a bigger smile, giving me hugs saying "See you next Friday!" Practicum has been very exciting and I am happy it's not over yet!

Mrs.Mayo
In this practicum I am helping out in Mrs. Mayo's kindergarten class. I help them with their writing, math and reading. I also help the teachers with the lessons that they teach and come up with creative ways to teach the kids different subjects. The kids love to dance and move around. I notice the teachers teach a lot of their lessons by teaching the kids a song about the subject or a dance. I love getting to interact with the kids.
